Hive Sugar grew out of 25 years leading operations inside a complex, high-pressure organization—managing teams, budgets, technology, events, vendors and the behind-the-scenes work that keeps a business moving.
I didn't just watch businesses struggle. I lived the strain of systems that were messy, outdated, and stretched beyond their limits, and I saw how much weight owners, teams, and leaders quietly carry while trying to grow something meaningful.
I know what it costs when too much of a business rests on one person — even with a small team behind you. And I know how much lighter it can be with the right person in your corner.

Meet Libby
I'm Libby Brown — mom, wife, operations leader, and founder of Hive Sugar. I spent 25 years inside the Atlanta Jewelry Show. I started part-time in admin, created my own role as Buyer Liaison, and worked my way up to Executive Director.
Along the way, I created programs like Bench Fusion, AJS Kids Jewelry Camp, Next GEM Academy, and The AJS Loupe, all designed to give a wider mix of people a reason to show up. The SoHo Experience tied it together. Our spring show was a traditional trade show losing ground, so I reinvented it with experiences that gave buyers a reason to attend even when they didn't need to restock. We ran it six years straight.
I handled logistics, built floor plans, negotiated with venues, secured sponsorships, and juggled thousands of moving parts twice a year. It was grit, guts, and a whole lot of late nights — and I loved it.
Why Hive Sugar
When COVID shut the industry down, there was no playbook for keeping a trade show running safely — so I wrote one. We never missed a show. That season taught me exactly what resilient operations look like — and what strong leadership really requires.
After 25 years, I walked away from a show I helped build. The organization was heading in a different direction than I wanted to go, and I knew it was time to build something of my own. It wasn't easy, and I didn't do it lightly.
I also knew what carrying too much alone had cost me. Too much on my plate, never enough hours in the day, and always "on." Even in the moments that mattered most, I was in the corner checking email instead of being fully present.
Then, just as I was building Hive Sugar, our 12-year-old son was diagnosed with pediatric cancer. Overnight, everything else had to wait. It showed me firsthand how quickly life can change — and how important it is to be prepared for the unexpected.
Those two experiences set my course. I think about the owners whose businesses only run when they're in the room. If life pulled them away tomorrow, would the business keep going? That's why Hive Sugar exists. I help established owners get the business out of their heads and into systems their people can run — so they can be present for what matters, and the business keeps going when life happens.
